What it gets right
- Your time has a cost. Trying to do everything yourself can become a false economy.
- The vetting advice is practical. Asking every applicant to include a reference code is a simple attention-to-detail filter.
- Starting with a small test job is sensible. It protects a beginner before committing more money.
- The live Upwork walkthrough is reassuring. It shows a nervous first-timer exactly what to do.
Where it falls short
- It is pre-AI, and it shows. Writing, editing, proofreading, research, design, transcription and parts of video production can now be attempted with AI before paying per job.
- Some of the framing makes outsourcing sound too effortless. Briefing, checking and managing people are still real work.
- Some rates, screens and platform examples are ageing.
- The production quality is rough in places.
The missing third door
The course presents two choices: delegate the task or outsource it. In 2026 there is often a third option: write a clear instruction document and ask AI to carry out the task first.
The comparison is useful because the course itself recommends building a standard operating procedure. With AI, the written brief can become both the procedure and the instruction. Improve the brief and the output changes immediately.
That does not remove the need for people. You would still hire someone for physical work, specialist accountability, regulated professional advice or work where judgement and responsibility must sit with a named person.
My practical rule: try AI first, then outsource what AI genuinely cannot do or should not do alone.
What I use myself
I currently use Solo Engine by Philip Borrowman as a guided AI system built around my own business and brand instructions. I bought it as a founder purchaser and use it regularly. It is not currently linked here and I am not presenting it as the only credible option.
Other established routes include Jasper, Copy.ai, HubSpot Breeze, GoHighLevel, or building your own system with ChatGPT or Claude. The important distinction is whether you want software you operate yourself or a more guided workflow built around your business.

- Someone who wants a plain walkthrough of hiring a freelancer for the first time
- A business owner who understands that AI and people can be used together

- Anyone already using AI tools confidently every day

Good bones, dated toolkit. The principles are sound and the beginner walkthrough is useful, but the course needs an AI-first update. It is worth considering for the right beginner, provided you do not automatically pay a freelancer for work that a well-briefed AI tool could now handle.
Best for: complete beginners who need their first push to hand work off.
Weakest for: anyone already comfortable using AI tools.
